Plant Based Remedies in Colonial America

Bold Gold Media Speaker Series presents

herbalist Richard Mandelbaum and his program,

“Splendid and Miraculous: Plant Based Remedies in Colonial America.”

Cushetunk settler Nathaniel Evans became known as “Dr. Evans” because of

the efficacy of the herbal remedies he administered, most of which he learned

from the Indigenous People he encountered here. Richard Mandelbaum discusses

how some of those remedies are still popular—and effective—today. 3 p.m.
