‘Hamilton’ Comes to Sullivan County

The Delaware Company Hosts at Narrowsburg Union

BARRYVILLE—As part of Sullivan County’s commemoration of the Semiquincentennial, America’s 250th birthday, the Barryville-based nonprofit history education group, The Delaware Company has announced that it will host a screening of the movie version of the mega-hit Broadway musical “Hamilton” at the Narrowsburg Union on Saturday, September 19. The movie, originally released in 2020, is a live stage recording of Lin Manuel Miranda’s award winning musical, which narrates Alexander Hamilton’s life in two acts, and details, among other things, his involvement in the American Revolutionary War as an aide-de-camp to George Washington, his marriage to Eliza Schuyler, his career as a lawyer and Secretary of the Treasury, and his interactions with Aaron Burr—the main narrator for most of the musical, and a man with ties to Sullivan County—which culminates in their duel that ends Hamilton’s life.
Other characters in the musical include George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Philip Schuyler, and King George III.
The program at the Narrowsburg Union begins at 7 p.m. with light refreshments, then an introduction by John Conway, Sullivan County Historian. President of The Delaware Company, and co-chair of the county’s Semiquincentennial Commission, followed by the film.
